Brightening up the drab grey winter streets of Paris, and balancing out the population of through Chromotherapy, the Patachromo project, by Superbien, presents a series of animated light frames lasting about 2 minutes each. A kind of interactive well being store window display, the project could be found at 14 rue Commines 75003 Paris between October 25th and November 15th, 2008. So, while it's a bit too late for us to go enjoy it now, seeing the larger use of color and light to positively affect people is quite exciting.
"The installation is based on notions of Chromotherapy seen through the prism of Pataphysics." Chromotherapy is the use color and light to balance energy wherever a person's body be lacking, be it physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental. Pataphysics, as defined by its creator, Alfred Jarry, is "the science of imaginary solutions, which symbolically attributes the properties of objects, described by their virtuality, to their lineaments." In the 60's, artist such as Marcel Duchamp, John Cage, Heath Robinson and Rube Goldberg used Pataphysics as a conceptual principal within their work.
